UberEther’s Gaurav Vedi Selected to Serve on ICANN’s GNSO Council
Appointment underscores UberEther’s commitment to shaping the future of a secure, open Internet
STERLING, Va., August 20, 2025 — UberEther announced today that Gaurav Vedi, a senior member of the company’s team, has been selected by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) 2025 Nominating Committee to serve on the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) Council in the Contracted Parties House (North America). Vedi’s term will begin at the conclusion of ICANN84, ICANN’s Annual General Meeting, scheduled October 25–30, 2025 in Dublin, Ireland.
The GNSO Council manages ICANN’s policy development work for generic top-level domains (gTLDs)—the rules of the road for how the domain name system evolves. The Council is organized into two Houses; the Contracted Parties House represents registries and registrars, while the Non-Contracted Parties House represents commercial and non-commercial stakeholders. ICANN’s Nominating Committee appoints three Council members each cycle, two voting members—one to each House—and one non-voting advisor.
“Gaurav has a bias for action and a backbone for accountability. We don’t just consume the Internet’s governance outcomes—we help build them,” said Matt Topper, President and CTO of UberEther. “His appointment is a win for the multistakeholder model and for everyone who believes security and usability can—and must—coexist.”
“I’m honored to serve,” said Gaurav Vedi. “The GNSO is where pragmatic policy meets real-world operations. I’ll bring an engineer’s rigor and a community mindset to the Council’s work—listening broadly, testing assumptions, and pushing for policies that keep the namespace stable, secure, and open to innovation.”
